Helmut x Porfidio, Tequila-Aged Welschriesling 2018

Helmut x Porfidio represents a unique collaboration project between Austrian winemaking and the experience of Porfidio's founder, Martin Grassl, in the production of agave spirits. This exceptional white wine from Styria is the result of a combination of traditional Austrian wine culture with an innovative approach that involves ageing the wine in tequila barrels, thus achieving a unique and rich character. This wine is made from 100% organic Welschriesling; the grapes were hand-harvested and aged for 6 months in single use tequila barrels. The wine has fresh aromas of oak, malt and roasted nuts, complemented by light oak notes from the tequila barrels. The palate is light yet full-bodied, with a harmonious profile and a lingering finish dominated by subtle sweetness and fresh floral notes. Such a cool wine; great as an aperitif or paired with cheese.
